Weekend Adventures in SoCal

After settling in the past couple of days, (finally bought a full kitchen cookware set - time to pretend I can cook) my first weekend back in the states consisted of a lot of exploring around Southern California.

One of my favourite spots to go with Trevor is a little place in Corona Del Mar near Newport Beach, that overlooks Balboa Island and the ocean.

Since Trevor and I finally got ourselves a drone, we decided to fly it whilst enjoying dinner from West Coast Fish.

It was both our first time flying the Mavic Pro and I can't wait to get some cool road shots soon!

And since it is winter back home in Sydney, Australia it has been so nice to enjoy the warmer weather and longer days. I can't get over how beautiful the sunsets along the coastline are here!

The next day we went to check out the Watch Expo in Newport and brought Italia along with us. She's such a funny dog and just as much of a poser as I am 😝🐶💃🏼

BTW how nice is this GT3RS! Would own!

After the Watch Expo, Trevor and I went to check out the Lighthouse Cafe in Balboa.

We stumbled across this place on Instagram a few months ago, and had been dying to check it out.

It is situated in a quiet location on the beautiful peninsula and looks out to a sea of boats.

We were lucky to get a spot up the top of the lighthouse, although I think next time we will go at sunset as it got wayyyy too hot sitting upstairs in the sun. BTW the beignets (small pastry puff things pictured above) are amazing!

After we ate, we went exploring some more around Newport, before heading home to wash Italia, and get some house work done.

On Sunday we decided to head up to Venice and although I wasn't feeling 100%, it was nice to get out and get some more exploring in.

I absolutely love the architecture and street art in Venice, and all the nice little cafes and boutiques.

After wandering around the streets of Venice, we stumbled across this gorgeous cafe called The Butcher's Daughter which is a plant-based restaurant and juice bar.

We ordered a flight of refreshing juices (we got 02, 03, 05 and 06), and the breakfast pizza with an egg on top 🍕🍳🍹
Highly recommend checking this place out if you're ever in town!

After that we headed back to Newport to fly the drone some more. Unfortunately I was still not feeling well, so Trevor went up the hill to capture these incredible shots with the clouds.

I can't get over the image quality that the Mavic Pro produces, and can't wait to get some cool road shots with cars soon!

I think we will be heading to Joshua Tree next weekend so if you know of any cool spots for us to go to with the drone, let us know in the comments below!
