Exploring The Sacred Giant Rock @ Joshua Tree

Okay before I begin, how insane does this place look!? I had never even heard or seen this place until Trevor showed me a photo of it on Instagram, and to be honest, I wasn’t that phased by it until I saw it in front of me. Located out near Joshua Tree, California, this giant rock is reported to be the largest free-standing boulder in the world! Whaaat! It covers 5,800 square feet of ground and is seven stories high.

Native Americans of the Joshua Tree, California area consider it to be sacred, and in February of 2000, the giant rock split into two pieces (as two passing hikers watched!) Can you imagine seeing that happen?!

As we were already out in Joshua Tree scouting locations for an upcoming campaign, we decided to quickly pass by this insane location with our new Tacoma and when we arrived, we were in absolute awe. Would love to come back during the sunset or even try camping out there soon. Let me know if you ever check this place out or if you’ve already been before!
