It's All In The Detail
Whilst my R34 looks immaculate in all my photos, upon close inspection the paint is actually full of swirl marks, deep scratches, and overall dullness, which has sadly resulted in me not wanting to take my car out to events.
To me, my car is an extension of who I am, and I pride myself in always ensuring that everything is well maintained and looked after. But unfortunately, my car wasn't in the best condition anymore, and to be honest I was somewhat ashamed of it :(
After considering a full respray, but not wanting to spend all my money or have my car off the road for a long period of time given that it's my daily, I reached out to Joseph from Shine Shield Delivered as I heard that he details all the Heasman's cars, and always does an impressive job.
So I arranged to have Joseph come by to my garage, and spend the day making my car look new again. The best part was, I didn't have to take my car anywhere, which was super convenient for me because it allowed me to get a few jobs done at home, and still enjoy my weekend.
This was the first time that I have ever had my car detailed, and it was quite interesting to see how it all worked. First, Joseph did a waterless wash and clay bar, then he did a paint assessment and measurement using a torch and paint depth gauge. It was crazy to see the paint under his light, and I soon learnt just how thin the paint on my car really was. Because of this, achieving perfection would be risky and certainly time consuming (roughly over 35 hours worth of work), so instead we made it our goal to drastically improve shine, and increase protection in hopes that it would inspire me to get out and drive more, and feel confident having my car on display at events.
After that he started polishing my car, then did a strip wash using one of those cool foam cannons to remove all the polish oils, and all the dust that was collected during the polishing process.
It was nice to have someone other than myself washing my car for once!
After my car got a bath, Joseph started the paint protection process, and he also managed to clean up my foggy headlights that I deeply despise.
Then after he had spent hours detailing and cleaning my car, it literally looked like it had just gotten a respray. I was so shocked and impressed to see just how clean and shiny it was. *insert heart eyes emoji*
And the first thing I thought as soon as I saw my car was how much I just wanted to hop in and drive, and actually show it off for once! It just goes to show that if you take that extra measure and get your car professionally detailed, it can look brand new again.
If you're considering getting a respray like I was, I highly recommend that you look into getting a full detail and paint protection service from someone who knows what they're doing. It may be expensive, but it is a much cheaper alternative to getting a full respray, and the best part is that you don't have to have your car off the road for a long period of time, which means more driving time!
