Date Night at Babette's

After going to Babette's for brunch on various occasions, Trevor and I were yet to try their lavish dinner menu, so we decided to have a date night!

Situated between the beautiful palm trees in Crystal Cove, Newport, Babette's has become our go-to place for many reasons, and not just because that farmhouse sammich is literally the best thing that I have ever eaten.

Everything is locally sourced (including the seafood), and they use sustainable, organic produce for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

When we come to Babette's we often sit outside in the patio with Italia (I love that they are pet friendly!), but decided to be cute in the corner this time, before making our way to the bar later on in the evening.

Since I practically stalked their menu all day long, I knew what I wanted to order so without hesitation, Trevor and I ordered the ahi poke before we even sat down. The dish was demolished within minutes it was that good. Those crispy wontons really complemented the dish nicely and tasted even better with a drizzle of lemon on top.

Next up we ordered our mains. Trevor got the roasted brick jidori chicken with kale and bacon, and I ordered the seared wild sea scallops. And of course some sweet potato fries as a side with that to-die-for sundried tomato aoli.

Our favorite dish of the night was definitely the sea scallops. I was actually a little hesitant to order it because I've never really been a huge fan of sea scallops, but I'm so glad I ordered it! The flavors were fresh and distinct and the presentation was exquisite. I love the little edible flowers garnished on top too!

Whilst we were eating we noticed that Tesla were conducting test drives outside the restaurant, so being the car addicts that we are, we had to get behind the wheel of the new Model S.

I had never driven nor been in a Tesla before so I had no idea what to expect besides some futuristic shit, but I was actually blown away, and it kind of made me want to get one! The technology of these vehicles is insane and they're surprisingly super fast too!

After our test drive we headed back inside Babette's to smash some dessert. I couldn't help myself when I saw that they had carrot cake and mousse on the menu, and I couldn't decide which ones to order, so I just ordered both #noregrets!

Our waiter Adrian told us that they have this one lady who comes in almost every morning and orders the carrot cake BEFORE her mains! I wish I had her stomach because the servings were so huge that I sadly couldn't finish them both :(

Maybe next time!
