LA EATS: Lido Bottle Works
When Trevor and I were walking the boardwalk in the Lido Marina Village the other week, we stumbled across this little hidden gem called Lido Bottle Works that was bursting with energy.
A quick stalk on their drool worthy IG was enough for us to cancel our plans for the night and see what this place had to offer.
And the second I saw their 'Dory Catch' on their specials board outside, I knew that we were in for a treat.
With it being a Friday night, the place was packed and the atmosphere was buzzing, so we were lucky enough to get a table.
We sat inside and admired the beautiful, industrial interior whilst our lovely waiter London (coolest name) handed us the menu.
Without being too large and overwhelming, the menu was inventive and diverse and after seeing how beautiful all the dishes looked on IG, we couldn't wait to dig in.
First up we ordered the tuna tartare, which was one explosive dish!
And by explosive, I mean it literally popped in our mouths!
London explained to us that once you pour their yuzu-ponzu dressing on top of the tender, fresh tuna, it activates the chilli pop rocks that are garnished on the top.
We both devoured it in a matter of minutes! It was such a unique dish and definitely one to order.
Next up we got the jidori chicken wings, glazed with a special ghost scream hot sauce, and dusted with peanuts and herbs.
Prepare to get your hands messy with this dish, and make sure you pair it with one of their on tap craft beers or a glass of wine (or two).
Then, the head chef Joel Harrington personally brought out this incredibly presented dish of burrata to our table. He was brimming with passion as he explained the dish, which made us really excited to eat what he had created for us.
It was served with local peaches, a yummy creamy burrata cheese, smoked pecans and Minus 8 vinegar. It was our first time trying something like this and it was definitely my favorite of the night.
Our last main for the evening consisted of the dory catch of the day which the head chef picked up from the local market run by fishermen at Newport pier.
It consisted of a sweet soy glazed black cod, curried shrimp and scallop rice. The flavors were fresh and distinct and the portion sizes were very generous.
For a sweet ending we treated ourselves with a chocolate mouse that was topped with extra virgin olive oil and sea salt. We also got an incredibly yummy pineapple upside down cake, that saw me licking the plate clean.
Everything was beautifully presented, and tasted delicious. I definitely want to try their house spun ice cream next time!
It's hard to describe just how tasty the food here truely is, not to mention the incredible presentation of each dish, and the super friendly staff, which is why you need to do yourself a favor and book yourself a table at Lido Bottle Works pronto!
A huge thank you to the owner Brett, our waiter London and the head chef Joel for making our night a unique dining experience that we will never forget.
We can't wait to go back and try out their brunch menu!
